I had a little girl with giardia. We quarantined her and she's been off her meds for about 2wks and has been absolutely great since. I'm sure she's upset she hasn't had play time since all this happened but I've been so paranoid about passing it to the others. She's in a different cage. Everything was bleached and boiled several times. The vet never gave us any info on this so I wasn't sure when I could let her back around the others. Any advice would be helpful! Thanks!

The one time I dealt with giardia the vet wanted the chin back a week after the last dose of meds for a recheck fecal float.

Were the other chins checked for giardia? If not and they shared play areas etc, they very well may have it too.

Hooray! No more giardia in Trixie's poo!!! Now we can move her back in with the crew! So happy! What a hassle that stuff was! And unfortunately deadly. I lost my wittle Sweet Pea- RIP- due to it. Be careful of even so-called-experienced breeders bc you never know. It was a learning experience and good to be aware of (bc I'd never heard of it) although now I'm super paranoid about it! I'm treating everyone except Momma and Baby for the next 3 days just to be safe! Poor Trixie has been quarantined for such a long time! I'm moving her to a FN now so she'll get plenty of exercise and space!

What was the cause of death besides she had giardia? Was she on antiparasitics? I know liver failure has been implicated and retracted while on the meds so I wonder what was the exact cause of death-liver, intestine issue ect?
