How much would you generally buy for 2 chins, my aunt found me oxbow food and blue sparkle dust but it was only about 1.5 pounds.

How can you generally tell how much x amount of supplies is going to last you?

I tried doing the whole 2 table spoon thing with my chins, they don't like the top food. I don't know why I've tried three different brands with them and they still dig up the top portion of the food that is in the bowls, they'll eat the rest, just not the top half. So I just fill it up so they can dig up the top stuff and I put back what ever they don't want.

I've tried filling it only about half way full too which is generally the point where they dig to, and they still dig up the top portion of it. I don't understand it at all but what ever makes them happy go right ahead.

Anyways, the point of this thread is, is that I want to buy quality food and dust from sellers on here, however I would really like to know generally how much would you buy at a time and how much it would guesstimating last by the pound?

... I really hope this makes sense.

I don't usually measure. I fill the bowl and let them (2 550 g chins) eat what they want and a 5 pound bag of oxbow normally lasts a couple months.
I bought 20 pounds of dust and have not made a dent in it in 6 months. I doubt I went through half a pound this month.

I doubt you'll need 10 pounds of feed for 2 chins in a month. It won't hurt to have 10 pounds on hand, you'll use it, but don't plan on buying 10 pounds every month or you may have leftover every time. The rest of that list sounds okay though, again as pointed out, depending on how humid it is where you are at for the dust usage.

I have one "picky" eater and one who eats everything you put in front of her. Between the two of them, they eat about 3 pounds of feed a month (although to be safe I'd say 3.5 pounds) and I use maybe 1.5 pounds of dust per month.

I buy ten pounds at a time for my two chins, but it lasts me longer than a month. I try to buy the largest amount I can without going stale so that I get a better value on shipping costs.
Dust never really goes bad, so buy as much as you want, as long as you have room to store it.

if you look here http://threewingedfury.webs.com/suppliesforsale.htm
this is what she sells

So double that should do 2 chins for a month.

I have it listed as a two month supply, not one month, so the 2 month deal would be enough for two chins for one month, probably a little more. I think 2.5 lbs of feed per mth and about a lb of dust is sufficient per animal.
