I just wanted to make a few things out of wood for my chinchilla and was just wondering what kind should I use? I would prefer one that I can get at Lowes/Home Depot... Got any suggestions? And i was plannning on using non toxic wood glue... thats safe right?

You want either kiln-dried pine or poplar. The pine should be stamped with something like KD, but most pine you buy is kiln dried. Poplar is more expensive, but not as knotty.

And yes, non-toxic wood glue is safe, so is the white elmer's kids glue

I used poplar, and I can tell you, it was expensive. I agree, KD Pine and Poplar are your best bets.

i use untreated pine for my shelfs and sleep boxs . i dont use glue to make the boxs i use dowel rods to join .

They LOVE aspen, which they usually sell at hardware stores, as well as poplar and untreated pine.
