what to use for hair ring checks

so yesterday and today i noticed gizmo being less active in his cage. i picked him up and held him and was looking at his belly and his penis seemed lighter than usual. im wondering if he has a hair ring. im getting ready to check but was wondering what to use to do this. i've read that KY works the best, but was wondering what else could be used. thanks.

I don't use anything unless I need it. Most times it's easier (and less slimy) to just remove the hair ring as is. I only use the KY Jelly if it's a bad hair ring that is dry and won't come loose.

I agree with Peggy, lub only makes the job more difficult. I only use lub after removing the hair ring.

this obviously requires 2 people. he is not happy with me right now. i mastered the towel burrito, but the kicking was intense. my old roommate whos a vet assistant will be coming over tonite to help out.

Oh i just saw your thread. I just posted one on this. I have a gizmo too! and we did a fur ring check tonight- omg it was impossible! Usually hes OK with them, but tonight he was not a happy camper!

we didnt make eye contact for a while last night. and today hes been pouting a bit. i think playtime is in order!
