What to do when painting?

I am having my house painted in a few weeks and i am worried about the smell or toxicity for my chins. What is generally considered safe? Do i need to move them ? The only place i could move them would be the basement and their cages are very big and heavy to get down there. Can i just close the door to their room and that would be fine? So worried about doing this but my house needs it badly.

I think I'd paint one room now, with the door closed and windows open, so it'd be dry by the time the rest of the house was being done!
Put him in there and put a towel on the bottom of the door for a few days after they paint -
Of course, moving him out for that week would be better!

And I hear they have some less toxic paint-I forget the technical term.
