thanks! also, is it better to get one or two chins. i think i like girls better from what ive heard. would two girl chins fight? would one girl get lonely? i have a fair amount of time to spend with nike air max them and am well aware they require some playing time. thanks.:bump1:

Well, in the wild, chinchillas live in colonies..however some of them can do fine alone. As far as fighting goes, it depends completely on the chinchillas. What have you "heard" to lean towards female chinchillas more than males?? I'm not trying to be rude or anything, it just sounds like you gotta do more research before you decide that chinchillas are the right pet for you..

There is a lot of fantastic information on this site and here is a link to a website that has collected some great information on what to consider before getting a chinchilla, where to get a chin from, what you need in terms of supplies, how to bond with your chin, how to design a cage, etc. http://owningchinchillas.webs.com/

Edit: I don't think boys are better than girls or vice versa. Boys you need to do hair ring checks and with girls they can shoot a line of pee at you ;)

Any two chins have the potential of fighting. Sex doesn't matter. They can be best friends for years and one day they may fight to the death. If you're going to get two chins you'll need two of everything (cage, food dishes, cage furnishings etc...) if they ever do fight you'll need to separate them immediately. I have four single chins, and they aren't lonely. They are fine with their toys, wheels, and interactions with me.
