I did some searching but couldn't find the answer, sorry. I've heard that if you use pellets based on either Timothy or alfalfa you should give them the opposite hay. Ironically, I found a nutritional breakdown of Tradition but not a simple ingredients list.

Thanks!

It's alfalfa based. The hay type of hay doesn't matter as much as people say it does. You can give timothy hay, oat hay, or alfalfa so long as it's a grass hay that will help them grind their molars down. Most people prefer to feed the Oxbow timothy hay because it is very fresh and easily available on line.

I personally would not give alfalfa hay with an alfalfa based pellet. Too many chins are developing stones of late, and that's from too much calcium which you may find if you overfeed alfalfa hay. There is also a concern with the protein, which we all stress needs to be low. Feeding an alfalfa based pellet regularly with an alfalfa based loose hay is too much protein, IMO, and I wouldn't do it.
