I think I am going to have to put ledges on this so they can get on the upper level..
that small door could make cleaning the cage difficult, as well as making it difficult to reach in and pick up your chin.
if the white coating on the wire is plastic or rubbery, then i would not use this cage with chins - they could chew off the coating and eat it and get sick.
other than those cons, the cage size looks ok for one chin in my opinion.
I don't see anything horrible about this cage. I'd take out the wire shelves and replace them with wooden ones. It looks decently large. Might be a pain to clean with such a small door. Also you need to make sure there's no way for the chinchilla to push the bottom out and escape.
Why do I have to replace the wire shelves into wood??
the spacing on wire shelves is just the right size usually to trap chin toes in. this is why we recommend replacing wire shelves with wood. the added benefit of wood shelves is another thing for your chin to chew on - wearing down those teeth is very important!
