This is from a listing on I think it was some website that has multiple listings.

Anyways I saw this little boy and thought his coloring was amazing.

What is he considered? (the chin on the right)

I'd say Mosiac - uniquely dark on the one on the right, light on the other! Both cute!

Looking at the white on the face I would guess a tan white or a pink white. He will probably become more white as he gets older. I have seen some mosaics start out as a solid color and then turn out completely white.

I'm having a hard time believing that the photo is actually accurate because of the coloring in the other chinchilla. It's highly possible that the flash or processing is creating the white ring around the eye on the chin on the right because the other chin looks washed out for some reason and the color balance is way off. If the white ring around the eye is actually there, then I'd say tan white, but otherwise, tan.

Hmm, my first thought is Tan but the belly seems to have light, almost white hair. Of course without knowing the parents, its anyones guess.

I agree that the photo looks like it was either taken with a crappy camera or it was edited to make the color look different. Because the white chin looks so washed out.

Thanks everyone. I dont know anything about this breeder (is it a liscened breeder or hobby) so I dont know who the parents are they didnt list any info. But his colors are really interesting to me. I do agree though the photo looks a little distorted.

I am going with a beige and a mosaic. If they have multiple listings, perhaps the kits have different parents. I had a beige born recently that was very light. He was only a few shades above a white. I thought he would darken up a bit as he got older, but the light color is staying. Very beautiful chins though!

I also kinda of doubt someone would take the trouble to edit a picture to get sales. Perhaps that's naive, but wouldn't you think that the person purchasing the chinchilla would be a little disappointing when they showed up and it was a totally different color? Most breeders I know do not ship and anyone who planned on staying in business would be shooting themselves in the foot distorting images of their kits.

I doubt they meant to change or effect the color of the chin.. I myself have found when I lighten or darken the photo it changes the colors of my mosaic chin.

I don't think its intentional. It looks like someone doesn't have a clue of how to properly take photos, or their settings are messed up on their camera, or they were post-processing and didn't know what they were doing. The color looks a mess, IMO. The left chin looks like a beige that's been washed out and now looks white, which makes me think that the chin on the right has no actual white around the face, it's just the way it looks in the photo.
