Hey everyone!
So I was just looking at different chin colors, and had previously thought that my chin, Remi, was a standard grey. But then I saw that standards have white bellys, and I looked over and Remi doesn't! He's just grey all around. His belly might be a tad lighter. He is a pretty dark grey, though.
He looks a little like this one, but without the white belly:

So is he a standard chinchilla? Or ebony? Charcoal?

Thanks!

I agree, ebony. They come in all shades from light grey to pitch black - if the belly is grey then they have the ebony gene.

Now I'm questioning my boys. One of my boys look like the picture she posted, but my other boy is all dark gray everywhere. So does that mean that one of my boys is ebony and one of them is a standard, when they are from the same litter? I was told mine was standard from the breeder I got them from.

It would be best if you could post pics of your own chinchilla in good lighting. This will assure you get the correct response. Otherwise we are all just speculating.
