so i have always had this female that has been changing colors on me since she was a baby..she came out almost a off white color with a dark under bottom.... now this is her current up to date photo...i was told she was a tan previously just guessing because i had posted before wondering what she was but now im wondering if she is tov??i noticed it in this photo i took of her today

ive never realized that her veil and head is darker than her body..i have noticed though that her legs have always had paw stripes but i thought it was because of her weird coloration..
her mother is a beige and her father is unknown, i know there was a black velvet in the cage but i dont know if it was a male or female. there were about 5 chins in the cage that she came from....

looks like a tov homo beige or homo tan. If the breeder said one of the parents was a tan, then yes, it carries ebony. :)

the breeder didnt say one of the parents was a tan.. i got her from some retard that had like 2 males and 4 females in a cage together. one of our friends bought her dam and got bored with her so we bought the dam from our friend. a few days later she popped out that one ^^^^ lol..we have the mother and she is a beige.. but like i said the father is unknown. i posted her here before and people said she looked like a tan.

Doesn't appear to have Tov characteristics to me. All chins have paw stripes. Most have decent veiling. Homo does weird things to the veil, so you'd look for the Tov texture - which she doesn't have.

The dark leg markings could be a sign of ebony, but some standard lines have it too.

I agree..

The use of the word retard is offensive.

seriously this isnt 2nd grade lol wow... he was a retard because the guy had all of his chins thrown together and inbreeding like crazy!!!!!! it was some guy local to me on a car forum.. so sorry if that offends you but its not like i said a curse word so seriously its not a big deal..i dont see why you needed to even say anything about it.Im not refering to anyone on this site or anyone with special needs if that is why you are saying that. I do not refer to people with special needs as retarded. I never have and never will because I think it sounds completely wrong! Now someone who is doing something completely stupid and idiotic , I will call them retarded because they do not have enough common sense to NOT let there animals inbreed!!!

back to the topic.

Ok i guess i learned something new today.. i didnt realize a chin could have all the characteristics of being a tov and not be tov.. i thought that only standards, black velvets, etc only had veiling. I feel better to know that now :) thank you

what did you all mean about the texture of tov?? if you could give me a description of what you are meaning.. id love to learn more about that.

If this isn't 2nd grade then why are using that term so freely? It reminds me of how some people use the word "gay". It is very offensive. I have quite a few "retarded" family members and my boyfriend is special needs. I wish you could go through a day being "retarded" and understand how it feels. Here is what I find completely ignorant about your post...you use the words "idiotic" and "stupid" to describe the person. Why couldn't you have done that in the first place?

On topic, he looks like a beige or tan. Something also seems wrong with his eyes.

Retard is offensive to many people, so let's refrain from using it in open forum in the future.

I don't want to see this get any more argumentative. Let it stop here.

no one is talking about the red most of us know beige chinchillas=red eyes. After that eye post I went back and looked the fur does lay funny around the eyes. which indicated moisture in the eyes

The first thing I took notice to was the eye, as well. I'd keep an eye on it just to be sure...

Do you have better pictures of her? She COULD possibly be a very, very poorly veiled TOV. If you look at the face--she has the makings of a mask. The mask is going around the eyes. Most non-tov animals (standards, beige, regular ebony etc) the veiling/darker color on the face goes BETWEEN the eyes, not around the eyes. Going around the eyes is the face-mask of a TOV animal. Considering she could be homo for beige, and possibly be a tan as well (homo beige tan), it could easily be her coloring due to the mixture of mutations..but I'd like to see better pictures before ruling out TOV 100%.

I personally think she looks like she has TOV, perhaps a Homo Beige Brown velvet. Look at the face, and the mask that goes around the eyes. That is a classic TOV face mask. Then look at her mother, a normal beige and see the difference. The dark veiling goes between the eyes, not over the eyes like that of an animal showing TOV.

she does have darker veiling but I have seen that as well in beiges, my homo beige has tovish veiling and I know she is not one. I guess in the end it wouldn't matter if you aren't breeding her...
