Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series is fabulous! I just finished Compromising Positions by Jenna Bayley-Burke and LOVED it! After I was done I read Pride and Passion by her and didn't like it LOL! Did find a nice, okay it was hot as all get out, book with older woman/younger man--which I LOVE because then I can dream lol! Anyway book was Rodeo Heat by Desiree Holt--a young, hot, dominant Rodeo cowboy--very fabulous read for sure.

Santa Olivia by Jacqueline Carey. Oh. My. GOD. I actually just finished re-reading it, and it is even better than I remember. Brilliantly written, poignant and socially relevant. I know it seems like I fangirl everything this woman writes (not true, see Imriel's Trilogy rants), but this may be the best. Because it is written in a completely different style than her Kushiel's Legacy books, it is difficult to compare them, but Judas it is brilliant. I highly suggest it.

Warnings: swearing and adult situations.

Just finished Dangerous Passions by Lisa Marie Rice and thought it was just OK. It seemed as if it was the same story she's told before but with different names--I hate that!

Also read today Nothing But Trouble by Rachel Gibson. MS Gibson is a keeper author for me and a snafu on Amazon's part prevented me from reading this on release day--so I had to wait until Friday! Read the whole thing in a couple of hours and LOVED it! This book visited the Chinooks Hockey team again and what a delight! Mark and Chelsea a great couple! I recommend this and ALL of Rachel's books. If you're going to read this I do recommend you grab up all the Chinooks books first as they do visit former characters.

Since last Friday I've blown through all of the Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris (Eric Northman = YUM!), and started on "In the Cities of Coin and Spice" by Kathrynne Valente. It's the second in her "Orphans Tales", and very complicated, but definitely some of the most creative fantasy fiction I've read in ages. She's probably the L. Frank Baum or Madeline L'Engel of the 21st century.

Sex with the Queen: 900 years of vile Kings, virile lovers, and passionate politics by Eleanor Herman. I think the title speaks for itself. :) I love non-fiction books.

Finishing up Nora Roberts third of the Bride Quartet series then starting on Book 3 in Kim Harrisons Hollows series.

Just re-read "The book thief" this is one of my favorite books, I love the premise of a story being written from the point of view of "death". The characters are incredibly well written, I always cry at the same parts of the story. I also just read "The fourth hand" by John Irving. I love his humor and "what if" approach to telling a story. I also loved "A prayer for Owen Meany" another favorite.

Just finished Wyoming Solace by Alana Coca. New author--debut book, GREAT book. I was really pleasantly surprised. It's a tale of a woman fleeing an abusive husband, going back to Wyoming to the ranch her father left her. It was the perfect combination of prickly but hunky cowboy and damsel in distress. I love it when something so pleasant and unexpected pops up for me!

I just finished reading all three of Cesar Millan's books and Unwind by Neal Shusterman.

Unwind is a sold as a teen/kid book, but I enjoyed it. Its about a society where unruly teenagers can be "unwound"...sent to harvest camps where they're taken apart and their body parts used for transplants in other people. Some of the 'unwinds' run before they are sent to camp. The book is about a boy who runs. Its interesting and brings up some questions about morality and society.

Little Bee by Chris Cleave. A Nigerian refugee girl's world collides with that of an English couple on holiday, as she's escaping her home village. Years later, she calls their house to tell them she's in their country and within days, the husband commits suicide. The story that is slowly unfolding is what happened when they met that day on the beach. The book is interesting and lyrically written, and although I am only halfway through, I already don't want it to end!

I've been planning on picking up a copy of Little Bee, I need some new summer books. I'm glad to hear you like it so far. It sounds very interesting. I just reread Slumdog Miilionare, I don't think I'll watch the movie though, I enjoyed the book to much.

The movie of Slumdog Millionaire is wonderful, although I haven't read the book so can't compare the two. But I could understand not wanting to mess with a good thing. I didn't like the end of Little Bee as much as I liked the first half. But I would still highly recommend it!

Now I'm on to Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I'm over halfway through and still not engrossed in the story. Considering how many copies of the thing have been sold, something juicy must happen at some point!

p.s. Cindy, I suggested Sex with the Queen for our book club so we're reading it in October. Thanks!

I was thinking of reading Girl with the dragon tattoo as well, let me know how you like it. I enjoyed the movie Atonement, and I read the book also, I think they did a good job with the movie. You can't beat a really well written book though.

I couldn't get into Atonement, don't know why! I've had it sitting in my "to read" pile for over three years. Everyone that reads it says I have to try again. I guess I'll give it another go!

Just finished a new to me author Propositioning Mr Raines by Laurann Dohner--it's one of "those" books of mine and it was really good! I actually got teary eyed. I'm recommending every single book by Victoria Dahl--her contemporary and not necessarily historical if you like funny and sexy reading. Her latest--Crazy For Love is out now and it was laugh out loud funny!

On a somber note we were discussing Vietnam war in chat last night so I've decided to try really hard to find one of my favorite books about the war--Nam by Mark Baker. I'm hoping I can get it on Amazon. It's worth a re-read on my part

Storm Prey by John Sandford. It's the latest in his series with Detective Lucas Davenport. Fairly interesting. I'm into mysteries and thrillers and crime dramas. Going to read some Dean Koontz next probably. I love reading.

Just finished Deadly Fear by Cynthia Eden. She is a keeper author of mine and this book was AWESOME! It is her first foray into mainstream out of paranormal and it rocked! It's the story of 2 FBI agents (rather a specialized team as there are going to be 2 more books in the series for sure) after a serial killer. I really loved it! If you like suspense and can handle romance with it (and not "sweet" romance) I recommend it!
