I like dinosaurs :3
Well, Mork just loves to torture me. He had some weird substance on his back fur today, and I couldn't figure out for the life of me what it is. Maybe grease from the back of his wheel--but I didn't think he could squeeze back there. I've wiped it clean, just in case.
Anyway, no amount of dusting could clean it, so I did some looking around the internet, and found this very helpful website, with instructions for giving a chinchilla a wet bath. http://www.chincare.com/HealthLifestyle/GroomingFurHealth.htm#baths
To quote, "There are a number of ludicrous myths surrounding the "chinchillas should never get wet" admonishment, dire consequences of which include the chin having his organs crushed by the weight of the water on his fur and the complete loss of fur, which then refuses to ever regrow...EVER. The stuff of urban legends, to be sure. ...Wet bath can be beneficial and safe for chinchillas but it is ONLY recommended for situations where a dustbath will not clean adequately, for example: if a chin has come from a filthy cage environment, is excessively stained from urine-spraying, is matted, incontinent, grease-slicked, has fallen in the toilet (ref), is tar-stained (smoking indoors not only damages their health but also causes coat discoloration, stickiness and stench), etc. "
So, I carefully followed their steps and prepared to give Mork a bath. I did, and he didn't like it, but he was surprisingly calm--I attribute that to his deafness, I think if he heard the water he'd have FREAKED OUT. He was a very brave boy ^_^ He got lots of kisses and snuggles, especially when I was towel-drying and blow-drying him. He seemed glad to get back in his cage (I would be too), and I set up a space heater on a low setting so that he wouldn't be cold, as the tips of his fur were still wet after 2 hours of drying. He walked around the bottom part of his cage, then decided he DID want to sit in front of the heater XD
So I just wondered if anyone else has ever found it necessary to bathe their chin with water. Also, apparently someone's chin fell in a toilet? (Referring to above quote lol).
AND Lastly, since we don't get to see these things every day, I took some pictures of Mork wet. He is SO SMALL when his fur is wet! Like...1/3 or 1/4 his normal size. He looked like a strange giant mouse-thing XD
(He isn't albino, he has black eyes...but he doesn't photograph well, hence Red-eye heh_)
That's all ^.^
