I have decided to start filtering my chins water, where I live the water is great, but I don't want to take unnessary chances incase there is ever a problem at the water plant.

Now I did search this on the forum, and saw where people used different types [brand names] of water filters but couldn't find out if one was better than the other.

Tim uses a Britta water filter but the kind that isn't connected to the sink, it's like canister that you just fill up.

So my question is this: Is that a good water filter to use for my chins drinking water? If not what types/names of filters are good to use to make sure they have good drinking water?

Thanks all,
jean

I heard the the 'Zero water filter' is very good. I even filters out lead and arsenic - It come in the under the sink kind and the pitcher - I am thinking of that system myself

I've never really pursued a home water filtration system. I use reverse osmosis water that I bottle myself into my own bottles from R/O machines in town.

If I ever were to invest in a filtration system, I would probably get a home R/O system or possibly a distillation system. (I built a solar water distiller years ago for a school project...I wish I still had it.)

I wish I had some experience with the Brita system. I guess as long as it filters out heavy metals and bacteria, then it's a good thing to use. Maybe a good search using Consumer Reports would give some good, scientific reviews about these types of filters?

I have used the PUR filters in the past. They have a filter that is really great. It filters out just about everything. Right now, we have an RO system that is mounted under the sink. We love it.

PUR 3 stage used here. I have a horizontal faucet mount filter and I love it! As Cuddlebug said, it filters out practically everything. My favorite being, "Removes 99.9% microbial cysts (Cryptosporidium and Giardia)". It does reduce the water pressure slightly but, it is on my bathroom sink so, it isn't a problem for me. I fill a pitcher at the sink and then go fill bottles in the chin room.
