Washed Away: Destruction & Creation at Blackrock Trail is a short film showing, well, exactly that. The effects of a change in the water pattern in the area has caused significant erosion, leading to the story in the film. I made this film for the Under Water, Over Land Challenge, a nature videography contest. The theme was 'order and chaos'. Give it a watch and let me know what you think!

Full disclosure: I did not produce or write this piece, I had help with that from my videoninja-in-training, Conner. He's recently gotten into a high school for the arts in the area and is trying to pursue a career in film!

ETA - if you have trouble with the video skipping and stuttering on playback, try disabling HD. There's a box you can click on right over top of the video to do this, and it'll be a little bit nicer on your computer. :)

Thanks for watching! I did not use a tripod, as the 'rocks' in the video are really just dirt columns and very succeptible to damage or collapse. I almost fell twice just handholding the camera! If I was to shoot again with more time I would probably invest in a monopod with a large foot.

Thanks for the feedback :)

Wow, I thought it was very cool. I'm going to show it to my daughter after she gets home from school. Where is Blackrock Trail? Thanks for loading the smaller version!

It a part of Big Talbot Island State Park, in northeast Florida. A bit north of Jacksonville. :)

Thanks for checking it out! Glad you liked it. :)

Now that it's working right on the website I was able to watch it. :D I really, really, really want to go. Next weekend it is!
