wagging her tail

Sometimes when I am in my room watching tv during a commercial I glace at chi-chi and I say " Hey hunny or chiii-chiii or what cha doin " and she will look at me and wag her tail back and forth. Sometimes after being out I come home and say hi to her and she does the same thing she she wags it about 4 to 5 times. What does that mean? does anyone else chins wag there tails

I don't know about females but my males do it when they are feeling intimate..usually right before they go into hump attack mode.

It can be a sign of dominance (maybe slight aggression) with the girls. She's probably just happy to see you and doesn't know another way to show it? I know that it can mean hump attack mode with females...they'll mount and hump another female or male....

Chinchillas are weird...

I call it the "Talkin' Trash to Mommy" tail wag when Mr. Whiskers does it when he doesn't get what he wants!!! Sometimes, both he and The Snuggler will do it at each other if one is on the wheel and the other wants his turn.

Otherwise, I think that it IS part of their mating dance, but in our case, it's just to let us know that they love US. I find it to be a particularly endearing behavior!!!

I would checK Chi Chi's gender again... i've never experienced my females doing that. Only my Males!

yea i have 3 males and 8 females.....all my males do it and not one of my females has ever done this

My baby Lisa chin will do this sometimes. She is the only female I have that does it. I wish I could say I notice her doing it as a greeting, but I usually see her doing it when she doesn't know I'm looking lol!

The vet told me she is a female and she has never tried to hump. Here is a pic of her. Its the best i can do

Yep looks like a girl to me. Sometimes when my boy Liv is going after my foot (since he looves me so much :wacko: ) he wags his tail beforehand. Also, some of my boys will wag their tails before humping the other. It's just a dominant thing, when they're feeling frisky I guess! haha. Maybe your girl thinks your another chin and wants to dominant you

My girl wags her tail too, I have just noticed it the past few days at playtime! Glad I came across this thread! I had double checked, she is a girl
