Anyone here have hedgies who are extra vocal? I have it every night where I hear Cavalier and Rosa going back and forth to each other. "EE EE EEE EE EE EEE EEEE" I can put them on opposite sides of the room or cages next to each other and all I hear is "EE EE EE" ALL NIGHT. Anyone else have blabber mouths?

Yep, when Penny resided in my room she always chirped/ee-ee-ee'd when she was sleepy.

Sometimes I swear I thought I lost my mind. I couldnt find where the noise was coming from to save my life. Finally found out it was her!

Angel is very vocal when she knows another hedgie is around. She was very vocal when Demon was still with us, quiet during the time when she was our only hedgie, and now that Barley is here shes back to her nightly monologue, chirp click chirp click @_@. I have the feeling one of these days Barley will do the hedgie scream at her " SHADDAP WILL YA! IM TRYINA SLEEP! "

Nuance doesn't make many noises, Fray on the other hand is very vocal. You take her out and she huffs and barks at us. When she comes out of her ball, she squeaks and squeaks and squeaks. LOUDLY.

Heidi makes sounds when she wants some more food. Usually, it is when she hears someone walk into her room, she'll start with little mumbly grumpy whines, then when she hears the kibble it turns into louder chirps.

I found that if I don't feed her first, or if I don't feed her right around the time she is waking up, she will sometimes do her little scream - not the scream of death... she is far too dainty and polite to go that far - but it is a much more urgent call.

Some hedgies are high maintenance!

bonzo is a quite shy guy the only noise he make is huffing and clicking lol.

Kismet is quite vocal. She does chirp-type noises when she's very happy or excited, and she makes grunting/snorting noises when she's sleeping. I swear to god, she snores! Sometimes, she'll make "snuff snuff snuff" noises and wiggle her ears. Vette and Cuda make a wide range of hissing and popping noises, and Cuda has very loud sniffing sounds. It's like he wants me to know that he smells something interesting. Cuda and Kismet also make slight whimpering noises if they feel somewhat neglected or bored, and wish to convince me to give them a "cookie" -- a kibble. LOL.

my hedgie Vex is very vocal. I ahve onyl had him for 3 days, but my god he is louder than my dog. He chirps, sniffs and squeaks constantly as he is happily navigating the room. He is also very huffy and pops if i try to take him away from the carpet or if i catch him sleeping.

Huffy does the little snuff snuff noises when she is sleeping as well as wiggle her ears. It's cute. And Gryff just does the hissing and popping noises when you wake him up. They are great!

:hearts:Fidget tends to talk to me when I don't get her out on time. She sits at the door of her cage and chirps at me all night unless I take her out and let her run. After exploring, she'll cuddle up on me and "whisper". She purrs too.... almost like a cat.

P.S. The "whisper" noise is almost like a soft, constant chirp. She does it all the time. If she is just meeting someone, she'll crawl up to their ear and tell them secrets :winkers:

I want my hedgies to make noises!!! Neither of my boys make any noise. The only time I ever heard any vocal noise was once with Spike at the vet. He wouldn't uncurl for the vet, so the tech tried to pull his hind legs out so the vet could get at his belly and he screeched... like screamed like a 5 year old. It totally freaked me out... needless to say, Spike does not get handled by techs anymore.

Can you get hedgies to make noises? (Nice noises, obviously, not "I'm being tortured" noises.)

This might sound bizarre, but I've heard Anyong purr while she eats something delicious. If I happen to have my face near her while she eats I can hear a deep sort of purring noise coming from her. I don't know if you want to try that with your boys Philogirl, but it wouldn't hurt to try.

Other than the occasional purring and puttering, Anyong spends a lot of time making a kind of whiffling noise through her nose. I think it's just the sound of the air whistling through her noise, but I enjoy it nonetheless :)

I wouldnt know how to get them to make noises.. Since I havent figured out how to get them to stop while Im sleeping. LOL

so the tech tried to pull his hind legs out so the vet could get at his belly and he screeched...
I don't know if I could have held back from punching the tech in the nose! That is NOT how you handle a hedgehog! If it doesn't uncurl, no prying it open technique in the world is going to work! Poor little thing!

As for Spiny, he does the cute chirp thing in his sleep. And, when I go to take him out of the tub, he makes a kind of purring noise. Other than that, he sometimes huffs, (and has rarely ever clicked at us).
:heart3: he's my little sweetie!!

If I had been in punching range of that tech, it would have been the tech making the screeching noise not the hedgehog!!!

What is it with vet techs? When I took Kismet to a new vet, the actual VET tried to uncurl her by lifting her visor and sticking fingers into her belly. Kismet rewarded her efforts with a nip. Kismet used to be so good at the vet's, never balling up or hissing. Now, she won't even allow a vet to touch her without taking a nip at them.

Hmm... Aiko does that squeaky-chirpy noise when he's exploring, and does it even louder when he's bathing

I found the easiest way to get a hedgie to unball is there is the area of quills on the back of like where their necks should be (shoulders/back of head?). If you take your finger and rub that area in like a circular motion, try and work your fingers in between the quills to try and reach the skin, they usually start to bring their head out of the ball and eventually the rest of them starts to come out too.

The only vocal hedgie I've really had was my only male, Skittles. He would squeak and lick at night, but then I found out he was doing 'other things' with himself. I've had a couple hedgies including Maizy that would make the 'putting' like sound when I have them in my lap and I am petting them.

There is a video on youtube of a screaming hedgehog. It's kinda sad I think the little thing must be terrified being at the vet.

Annie is pretty quiet. She huffs a bit when she's grumpy, and makes soft sqeaking noises when she's out to play, but that's it really.
