So I've got a question. I bought a violet kit months ago and have been growing her out. (I knew I would be taking a chance with buying a kit and I was ok with that) Anyhow-for about 3 months now I notice her fur is wavy over the hips and back..such that it gives her sheen a two tone effect. One direction it will have a lighter violet color, in the other direction it is a darker violet. It's very shiny though..LOL. No matter how much I try to comb it-it still goes in different directions. I think it is pretty safe to say that that is a huge flaw-correct? What would the term before for this? It's not a swirl like I've seen in whites. Is this common in violets or did I just get really unlucky?

It happens, had the same thing with a girl I bought to grow out. She had a shiny mohawk and a spot on her back that was thumb sized with fur going just slightly the other way. I'll find some photos of her when I get off work. None of the others in her line have shown that, it was very cute but odd.

Those look like a traditional fur pattern/swirl. A lot of Carole Kessler's stuff had that in the lines.

Did the fur stay that way, Tara or did it correct itself?

It stayed that way, sold her as a pet at 10 months. At that point she had come into adult prime so I knew it wasn't going away.

Here's a picture when she was 3/4 months old. As she aged her fur became denser and more upright but that one spot always faced towards her head and she never lost the mohawk.

Oh ok. I guess I was expecting swirls to be behind the neck...and not soo big. It makes sense though. I don't think there is any point showing her. Bummer!

Dante came from Furball ranch, he is a violet with a cowlick on his head, looks like Tara's chin. He also has the fur thing like the OPs chin.

yea i agree with what everyone is saying, looks like uneven fur growth and patterning. Definitely stray away from those because theyll get dinged hard at shows
