I'm still totally in omg everything they do is adorable mode!

We brought our chinchillas home on Saturday and as of today they're talking to each other during play time, climbing and trying to escape. I also swear the 6 month old has either put on weight or grown in the last 5 days!

We also discovered they're tremendous brats. We change their water daily but noticed they weren't drinking that much throughout the day, except right after I change it.

Got home, changed it and they went at it for a good 5 minutes each. Not just purified water but right out of the fridge too!

Vincent trying to escape. We're not sure what he is. Someone here said Pink and White but a breeder friend said Wilson White. He's our special little guy.

His fur is taking on a more silvery tinge you can only really see in bright light.

I'm going to run up your arm in a minute.

Christopher is very serious.

He really only wants the lava ledge if Vincent does.

Congratulations! Great photos too, they are so cute. Christopher does seem to have his serious face on, that is a really cool name for a chin btw, it suits him

I'm pretty sure Vincent is a Pink white - He appears to have dark red (ruby) eyes and the really pink pale ears are the giveaway for me. Wilson Whites have dark eyes and dark ears usually.

We named them after Christopher Lee and Vincent Price before we realized they weren't entirely nocturnal. (Long teeth and active at night!) Christopher Lee is by far the more serious business vampire actor :). It seemed to fit, we picked them up on Halloween!

Vincent Price was a little more camp. Which Vincent definitely is.

It seemed to be the dark eyes that threw people off. But we noticed last night they glow red (scary chinchilla!) in the right light. So a dark red might be right? He's getting a little darker around the collar too.

More pictures!

This is happening now! Little Vincent keeps hopping up on Christopher. It takes him a little while but Christopher usually wins the dominance contest!

Vincent lost this particular ledge battle.

Christopher is comfortable enough to be hand fed now.

He's very curious about the camera. He hopped on top of it and tried to use it as a ledge right after this.

I've been seeing more and more of this from him. Right at that moment we were listening to David Bowie. I don't think they liked it. They also got into a little spat about the water bottle just before complete with the klacking. Christopher won.

My husband likens it to Vincent running around going "DAD, DAD, DAD, DAD LOOK AT ME."

what cute boys!

for the water bottle disputes, i would suggest putting in a second water bottle. two food dishes and hay containers might be a good idea too, to keep the 'little spats' from happening/getting worse.

He's definitely started testing his boundaries with Christopher. I'm not sure if this was going on before or if it's a new deal but I've been noticing more aggressive behavior towards dad.

The girl we got them from said Vincent was 6 months so I'm guessing he's entering puberty, or exiting it. But yeah, I think two of everything is in order soon. They usually get on ok, nuzzling each other and squeaking when they play but the water bottle conflict was a little scary.

That and Vincent really does like to try and get as much attention as possible from Christopher.
