Help, my chinny is very lethargic and will barely eat. He seems to barely be able to move his back legs and can barely move his jaws to chew.

He was always super hyper so he will occasionally force himself up but then he keeps falling down.

He gave him a few raisins out of fear of dehydration, but he could barely eat them and didn't want any more than 2. (He would usually want as many as I'd give him.)

Please help! He's my baby and I love him to death. He's only 4 1/2 years old.

No vet is open this time of night either. (I honestly can't afford $1000+ vet bill right now even if I could find one willing to go in as an emergency)

WHAT CAN I DO????

Without a vet, there is nothing you can do. The symptoms you describe are very serious and he needs veterinary care. Just to get him checked shouldn't be anywhere near $1000.00, but if you don't get him to a vet, he may very well die.

It's possible he had a stroke or he may have overheated, but either way, he is deathly ill.

Believe me, we all understand about money issues, we've all been through them. But you have no choice in this, he needs to see a vet immediately.

I agree with Peggy without a vet he will die. he may need motility drugs, he may be bloated, he may have heatstroke. I understand lack of funds we all have been through that. If he does make it Keep in mind that raisins cannot be handed out like that, that may be what caused the problem. If you give raisins (which many people are against) it really shouldn't be more than one a day.

Sick chinny

He is now bleeding from his rectum. I called every emergency vet I could find. The 2 in my city "do not handle chinchillas." The next closest is well over an hour away and my baby stresses very bad in a car even when healthy. I know he wouldnt make it, and I would hate for him to go out like that.

Is there anything I can do? At least palliatively?

If we knew where you were maybe someone could help. Otherwise, if you can't get to a vet: hold him, love him. It probably won't be long.

Then come back and learn what you need to so the death won't be in vain.
