I purchase Tradition chinchilla food from a supplier half an hour north of where I live. I am also friends with this breeder on Facebook, so I see their updates frequently. They posted this ad:

http://indianapolis.ebayclassifieds.com/other-pets/indianapolis/chinchillas/?ad=17363283

Should a 14 week old female really be with a 2 year old male? AND they want to sell them to just anyone with no experience breeding chinchillas?

I really want to stop buying my food from them, but I don't know how else to get Tradition in a convenient way...

Just playing devils advocate as I don't know the breeder, but looking at that ad, it doesn't specifically state that they are housed together. It does say they have a "pair" of chinchillas and I could see where someone would think they are housed together but it just may be that they didn't think their wording out before posting the ad. Just a thought???

They posted on facebook that they can be "separated if needed," so I am pretty sure they are housed together. Good catch though!

Thanks for the suggestion Airyn!

I commented on the breeder's facebook post, asking if they should be separated anyway so inexperienced people don't try to breed them. They deleted my comment.

Just to be snarky, if the breeder has a "heard" and has a "sweat" "babie" for sale, I would say they are a "breader".
