I had to talk about it, I really feel bad right now....
Last weekend I has a stand at an animal expo and we had a couple chinchillas and my stuff for sale. This lady comes, saying she feels really anxious. Somebody gave her 2 chinchillas, a male and a female, and now the male is always on the female (those are the words she used). I told her to separate them right away, she said they like each other, I said doesn't matter!
We talked about food, she said she gave that crappy prestige mix, I said switch, she said BUT IT'S WRITTEN CHINCHILLA ON THE BAG  She said but they love it! I replied a kid's gonna love candies too!
That lady obviously, by the way she talked and answered had a deficiency, a light one, but still. And I don't have anything against that kind of people, I work with them often as a teacher, don't take my message as an insult about that category of people please. I was just.....I didn't know what to do! I tried to talk slowly, to be logical, not too many complicated terms or explanations so she would understand.
I tried to 'scare' her about telling her babies can fight to death, you may have to hand feed 24/7 etc. She agreed to separate them but I gave her my phone number and asked her to call me if anything went wrong or if she had questions. She is most likely gonna end up with babies in 111 days and won't have a clue what to do.
Who the **** had that *)&?)* idea to give that lady a couple of chinchillas to breed hun??? I don't understand how people will do such things!
How would you react? I just wish she'll call me and tell me she has problems so I can pick up the chins and maybe let her a same sex couple after the babies are born with simple instructions how to take care of them.....
