I took my sick chinchilla to the vet because of him bleeding out of his rectum. They then took his temperature RECTALLY. Now he's bleeding even more. They didn't do anything for him. I can't believe they would do that to him.

I hope you took your chin to another vet. The vet you saw obviously knows NOTHING about chins. In fact, it seems to me that you wouldn't do that to any animal bleeding from the rectum

Larry, I don't want to doubt your sincerity because I would hate to think someone would exaggerate an animal in need, but I can't believe any vet would take a rectal temperature on an animal that is bleeding rectally, especially not an exotic that small. Are you sure that you saw it right? Was there anything protruding from the rectum? Some kind of tissue or muscle-looking thing?

Please give us a general area of where you are at and we will find you a vet where you can get this poor chin some help.

Go to another Vet, get him correctly diagnosed and mended, and take the paperwork to the first vet. If you paid by check or C.C., tell them you're stopping payment because of mistreatment and misdiagnosis! If by cash, tell them you want a refund, or you'll open a complaint with the BBB - they obviously don't know what they're doing with exotics, and should not have even made an attempt, possibly causing more injury!

Bleeding from the rectum is bad. could be internal prolapse wjere in intestines fold over on themsleves from straining. I cannot imagine a vet taking temp there. Maybe like Peggy said you mistoke what you were seeing
