Okay, after doing alot of thinking I decided I had to get them. I am so glad I did. This might be long, but I wanted everyone to know how things went.

When I got there they had them ready to go. I couldnt tell if they had food or water because they have everything emptied. Well, the food they have them on is called Wild Harvest for rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and other small animals. Thats what it says on the bag. Its that cheap stuff you get at Walmart. They did have an almost full bag of Timothy Hay, dust bath house, with a little dust bath left, plastic igloo house, wheel with the spokes and it was all rusty, glass water bottle, ceramic food dish, and carefresh bedding. That was all they had. There were no chews or anything for them to play with.

When I got them home I washed the cage real good, and threw the wheel in the garbage. They are stuck with their cage for now until I can make them one. I decided to just start giving them the Mazuri food (there wasnt much left of the other stuff to slowly mix), along with Timothy Hay, and filled their water bottle. They started eating right away. I could tell they were hungry. When they seen me put the water bottle on they both ran to it and starting drinking. They were so thirsty I had to put another water bottle on the cage, because they were both trying to drink at the same time. They were drinking for over 15 minutes. I couldnt believe it. I never seen animals so thirsty in my life. It looked like they were dying of thirst. I was looking at them, and got tears in my eyes. I was so upset. How hard is it to feed, and water animals!

The pink white male is smaller than the other one, but he does not have a hunchback. I checked him real close. He is just thin, but he looks good.

They are both in a clean cage with good food, hay, water, and plenty of chew toys.

I will post pictures as soon as they settle in.

Thanks again for everyones help.

I am SO glad you decided to get them! :hug2: I was worried for a while there.

Sounds like you are doing everything right. I just want to emphasize give them tons of hay since you did a cold switch -- which was the right thing to do.

Congratulations on the new chins! You saved them!:)

sounds like you are doing fine. Give lots of hay and they should be fine. Sad sounds like they were without water for a bit

Seems like you've given them a new beginning for the better!
Good luck!!

I'm also really glad to hear you've given these boys a new home :)
BTW do you feed just Timothy Hay or do you also feed Alfalfa? I know there is a lot of confusion about what to feed as far as hay goes, but personally I feed alfalfa and timothy, and all my guys (and girl) love the alfalfa. It's the first to go. Then they get their timothy. Just something I thought I'd mention. :D

Yay! I am so glad to read that you got them. They are both beautiful chins and in need of lots of lovin'. You are off to a great start.

Can't wait to see pics.

I just feed the Mazuri with Timothy hay. I read to feed the hay opposite to whats in the pellets. Mazuri has the Alfalfa hay as the first ingredient so I thought they should get the Timothy hay with it.
