Stephanie: Zoo Poo Gal!
As you all know, we have been battling with Herby and her teeth for a few months now and at one point thought we were going to have to put her down. Weight loss, tooth filings, etc were starting to take its toll on her and us, but there is good news to report.
Since her last filing in January, she has put on 140 grams..she now weighs 670 grams and has decided that she likes to chew now and chews on everything I give her. She also decided that she did not like the Oxbow anymore so she switched cold turkey to Mazuri and eats like a pig. Every time I look over at her cage, she is head deep in the food dish.
She is more active then she has ever been and loves to hop out of the cage the minute you open the door to it. She is still the little queen she was after I got her and she does not let us forget this either.
Our new chin girl, Zoe is doing great too. Quarantine was cut a few days short, as I had company that came to town and could not sleep with her chattering at night. ( quarantine was in my bedroom and this is where they were sleeping )
She is also very active and is constantly running and jumping in her new cage we had built for her. The only thing about Zoe is, that she is a chewer. She will chew on anything, so we have to be very careful at playtime and any other time, as well, to make sure she does not get anything she is not supposed to. She decided that she did not like the Mazuri, so she is on the Oxbow and she loves her apple sticks and other wood she gets. She even chews on her shelves that are in her cage. She weighs in at 563 grams ( she lost a tiny bit of weight after I got her, due to the stress of how I got her and that she was on crap food and lots of treats ) but she is slowly gaining that weight back. She is still very timid though and due to lack of socialization does not like to be picked up, but loves to be scratched. So we are working on the socialization part every day and every day is a bit better than the last.
She has quickly made her a place in all of our hearts in the month we have had her and has every plan of being the princess we all think she is.
