So today I came across a chinnie that really needed a good home, he's really young and I found him on Craigslist yesterday (lady is moving to no pet apt). I decided to go ahead and tell the person I would adopt him because he needed a good home, and the one I was going to adopt has a very good home with an experienced breeder.
I feel good about giving this chin who needed a home a place to live, but I feel so bad because I had wanted the other chin so badly. I don't know, I get easily attached to the ideas of future pets I guess?
I get the chinchilla on Friday, and I'm looking forward to it, but for some reason I feel really bad and I kinda feel dumb for feeling bad.

I dunno, just ranting. :] I am happy to finally get a chinchilla though! He's really young but I think his cage'll be fine. I gotta get some ledges!!! And toys!!!!

Alright I'm off to camphorchins lol

thanks for listening to my thoughts

It is wonderful that you are giving a chinchilla who needs one a home. I wouldn't feel bad unless you broke a commitment with a breeder and then I would just apologize profusely, I am sure they will understand. I must have missed where your Dad gave you the OK to have a chinnie finally :)). I am happy for you and the little chinnie getting a new home. Be sure to post pics!

I will post pics. And I did contact the breeder and explain. She wasn't holding him because I didn't put a deposit down but she did give me a lot of information and sent me a lot of pictures of him and kept in touch, and I really appreciated that. I wouldn't have gone with another chinchilla but like I said this one needed a good home.

I will post pics! Now all the stuff thats been sitting in my room forever can be used finally!

Oh and my Dad gave me the OK when I explained to him this one needed a home ((they're big rescue people, my gecko is even a rescue animal)), and at first he said no still but then he called me later and told me to go ahead if it needed a home.

I agree with Jean Marie, don't feel bad, you are giving a needed pet a future. I'm glad your dad finally gave in. Good luck with your new baby and post lots of pics when you get him. Also, if you haven't already, make sure you tell the breeder that you can't get her chin at this time.

There's no reason you can't still keep a good relationship with that breeder. Maybe this little guy will want a friend in a few months/a year and you can take one of her pet quality kits. If she sells supplies, etc. shop through her first before you go to someone else. You can reward her (with your business) for the help she offered without necessarily buying a kit right away.

Ledges? Did someone say ledges?

Why, I'd be happy to help you with your ledge deficiency!

Congratulations on your new baby; I can't wait to see pics.
