so recently, gizmo had an injury which resulted in a tooth infection. he's gotten so much better after being on baytril for 2 weeks. i was worried about him for a while but he can finally eat on his own (no more hand feeding critical care!) and he loves his chew toys.

but i just started noticing that he grinds his teeth a bit. ive read through old posts and know that this can be normal and just a random habit, but im a bit concerned since it started after his tooth infection.

his xrays showed no signs of malo and the physical exam showed all his teeth to be nicely trimmed. he doesnt grind all the time, but i was just wondering (since i assume its from his injury) if its something to be worried about?

like i said, everything else looks normal. no watery eyes. eating and pooping normally (yay!). chews on toys.

just being cautious.

I notice sometimes that also after a filing, the dentist said its caused by the chins adjusting to the new plane of the chewing surface.

I'm not sure about this Luci but I'm thinking the grinding could be temporary. As you were hand feeding for a couple of weeks, his teeth didn't get a chance to get ground naturally with pellets, hay and wood chews, so maybe now he's just trying to do this on his own or adjust to those teeth that need it? But just privide tons of hay and wood chews like you are doing. Glad he's feeling better though! :))
