Brenda there is nothing wrong, imo, to answer that call and let the caller know you aren't able to talk right at the moment. It's when people are rude and continue to talk with complete strangers around them.
I once was at a bank where a rude customer was reaming into the personal banker. This is when I no longer worked there. The banker asked the woman several times to step into an office and she refused. She was an absolute ****** and did so in front of her daughter. While in a lobby full of customers she gave her account number, social security, number and telephone number to the person the banker had to call to clear up the issue. She was again very rude to the banker and told her daughter the world was full of idiots. As they both left I went to be helped by the banker next. I told her to hang on one second--I called the woman on the cell phone number she clearly read of--she answered it. I thanked her for giving out her telephone number, her social security number AND her bank account number to the entire bank--i was smart enough to block my call and she was dumb enough to answer it. I said the information I got would be most helpful in obtaining funds from her account--and then told her she might want to let her daughter know what a stupid a$$ she was.
Beth, the banker, started laughing, and the entire lobby started clapping.
It was definitely a funtime!!
