hi. I have a one year old male chin(charlie) our female passed about a month ago before we and the vet could figure out what was wrong. (they lived in the same cage)
Today we got two 10 week old sisters. the females and male is in separate cages for now to get use to each other.
I have real about the different ways and techniques to introduce chins and i know i should be patient.
I was just wondering if anyone has any good tips that you know might work.
They are interested in each other and our male is for now trying to nibble on them through the cage(cant get to them). The females are less interested and only sniffs him now and then but doesn't bite at him.

Any tips or ideas are welcome.:hmm:

Thanx.

You need to quarantine the new ones for 30 days before starting any kind of intros. Let them get used to the new home and you get used to their habits along with preventing any spread of illness from one to the other. It's too stressful on them to be in a new home with a new chin nibbling at them.
I did cage side by side and playtime in neutral area, increasing time with each playtime, with dust bath (not everytime) to intro mine. Worked great. It takes time though. I've heard cage within a cage works great as well.

Thanx for the quick reply. I read on other posts now about the quarantine as well so I wil sort that out first and if all is well after the 30 days I wil put them closer again.
Thanx for the tips, I really appreciate it.

Please do not intro these 2 little girls to an adult male until they are much older. He will try to breed them and if they got pregnant at an early age, they could die and the kits could too. The girls need to be mature (600 grams or more, about 8 - 18 months old, and have a large enough pelvic opening to deliver kits) before being put in with any male.

Agreed, do not even let them interact until they are old enough . Birthing or pregnancy could have been the cause of your other females death.

Thank for all the replies. With keeping them apart untill the females are old enough, can i still give them supervised playtime to start them getting used to each other untill I can put them together?
Thanks again to every one!!
