So, I got an email 2 days ago about a family needing to rehome a trio of chinchillas (AGAIN) which is how I ended up with my first 3 ..only 2 weeks ago!

(we have a rescue who is on petfinder, and we take in all animals)

We ended up this time with a pair of "males" that the lady bought from a petstore..and within a month, she found what she thought was a mouse in the cage.. to make a long story short.... she ended up with a male/female pair...and then a little boy.

The 3 have been housed together since the baby was born last year at this time, and no more babies since then (by some miracle) but I know there is a good chance she could be pregnant...

So..I would like to "introduce" (no pics till tomorrow) my 3 new additions.
Bonnie- who is a standard grey,
Clyde- Who I believe to be an Ebony..the color I wanted most!
and Gizmo, who I is a bit darker grey than bonnie... i believe he is just a darker standard.

Very sweet chinchillas!! Giz is a little more shy than the others, but clyde LOVES to be held. I have been snuggling with him for quite awhile!

I seperated bonnie into her own cage. .(so I now have 5 cages setup!!!) I am hoping after a quarantine to introduce bonnie to either luna or cinnamon.. i would LOVE for charlie to get along with the pair, just not sure if it's do-able.
I have a friend who wants a chinchilla, I may just adopt charlie to her..but Clyde is FOR SURE staying! i am so thrilled to finally have an ebony!!

SO... for quarantine, how long should it be??

Thanks in advance...

Thanks..
And I was thinking it was a month, glad I have that right! So...about the beginning of april I can figure things out as far as housing!

Finally I can share some pics of these cuties!

Please note: I took these the day that I got them, and before I seperated Bonnie from the boys, so they were together when I took pics, but now bonnie has a cage all to herself!

So what are thier technical colors? The best pic to show bonnie's true color is the close-up with her sittin in a pile of hay

Congrats! Bonnie is definitely a std., Clyde is definitely an ebony...Gizmo could be a light ebony- is his belly white or a dirty color? I can't see...

Cuties for sure, looks like they haven't had a dust bath in a long time though. I'm sure after a few dust baths they look even better. :)

Thanks. I will check his belly color when I get home Monday morning. (I am at work)

I don't know if they have ever been given dust. She gave me ALL of thie supplies.
a bag of guinea pig food with lots of junk in it, a bag of chinchilla food from Sunseed brand (or something like that) that has seeds & junk in it, a bag of hay, a bag of carefresh, a bag of yesterday's news (or somehing similar) bedding (purple colored), a wire mesh running wheel, (which is in my box of unused junk) and a box of treat sticks from Kaytee...
I also got the cage they were in.. it's not a bad size..just needs wooden shelves & some stuff to re-vamp it. I plan to go get some wooden 1 X 6 & 2 X 6's and my father is going to make some shelves & maybe hidey houses for them this week!!
