Is there a way to reverse it? 10 years is a long time... Maybe if I got it when I was 15 or 17, but still- 10 years... I don't think it would take off because of that.

But, call me a social engineer, but I could see giving this to men on public assistance (where the unintended birthrate is highest)..

I too was thinking that.

I think it's neat that there is a birth control for men, but what are they putting in you to stop it for 10 years? And to reverse it? Would you need another injection, and how would the two interact?

Thinking the same as the others...10 years?? The injection is given "right in the scrotum." I don't see many men signing up for that lol

I wouldn't want my husband to take it because of the amount of time it's effective for, and it's new so no one knows the long-term effects.

The article sais its reversible.

The injection is known by the acronym RISUG; ‘reversible inhibition of sperm under guidance’.

I think we should give it to all boys as soon as they hit puberty. No more sixteen and pregnant! :p I'm only half kidding.....in all seriousness, I would love something similar to this, but I plan on having children in the next ten years. Maybe not for another five, but still.

Reversible could just mean it wears off after ten years instead of being permanent like (most) ligations.

I don't plan on having kids for a few years at least, but 10 years is a long time and a lot may change over the next 3-4...

Maybe a 5 year duration would be better...and I can't see men turning to this option either, with the injection directly in to the scrotum.

Does it work consistently for all ten years? Would a male with higher production wear the shot out faster? Would you have a viability test every few months to make sure it is still working? Just too many questions for me.

I would LOVE for men to have to take a freaking pill. For some people, it would be nice just to have the double assurance so prevent accidents. I think this would also be good for guys to ensure they don't end up with unwanted children from trusting a woman too much.

Trust a woman too much... Sorry, had too many friends whose girlfriend either went off to lock them down or were just too inconsistent in taking the pill for it to be effective. Too many of them have kids now. I always use at least a front line approach.

I would have no problem taking a pill, as long as it is affordable. I still don't see the people who most need birth control taking it though.

That's why we give them a ten year shot, Candy! If it does irreparable damage...all the better...

I too know a lot of girls that will get pregnant to ensure they "keep" their man. It's a bad approach. The excuse always seems to be "oh, he'll come around when the baby is here. A baby changes a man!"

Personally, I respect my partner and his choices too much to deceive him into conceiving a child he doesn't want. If he changes his mind in a few years then we'll have a kid and I'll know that kid is WANTED from the moment it's conceived. If he doesn't change his mind...no kid and my life won't be over just because I didn't give in to my genetic NEED to reproduce and pass on my genetics.
