I have been looking for oxbow or mazuri with not much luck our local feed store has purina chin pellets would they be acceptable ?

If your feed store is an authorized Purina dealer, you can order Mazuri in a 25 pound bag. That's what I do. You just have to ask them to order it for you.
My feed store orders two bags at a time and I pay when I pick up. Make sure you ask how they want to be paid. They may want you to pay up front.

Purina is fine, I've used the green bag (it comes in 25# bags) and is almost always fresh.
