I've been trying to grow out my hair. I'm not good at growing out my hair as it looks like crap, annoys me, and then I end up cutting it myself -- which is NOT good. So I've decided to get a perm on Sunday. The last time I had a perm was probably about 15 years ago. My thought process is to get some nice curl or wave in it so it look awful in the growing out process. So I could either end up looking nice or like a poodle!

Good luck Laurie. I used to get perms years ago, but hated what they looked like at the end of their life, so I have stopped getting them. But you will have to give us a before and after pic, so we can see how beautiful your perm looks. Are you doing a home perm or having it done at a salon?

Good luck! The lady that did my hair yesterday apparently doesn't understand "subtle undertones of red." Now I look like a firetruck.

Mel it's pretty darn short right now in most people's standard. I just hope it will turn out okay!

I think you're going to look like a poodle. A pretty poodle, but a poodle none the less. If your hair is that short it's really difficult to get the cur correct. Either it's going to be poodle curly or barely wavy. Perms are evil.

I got a perm about 2 years ago. I went to a salon because I didnt want my mom to do it, lol and it came out really good. Its still in too, but I straighten my hair most of the time. lol

My mom gets a perm twice a year or so, she has short hair that is very fine and it works well with her hair to give her some body. I on the other hand have thick hair and perms have never been my friend

I love the look on other people, but on me it just looks like a bad dye job. I actually really don't know what to do.

Perm looks nice! I'm waiting a week then dyeing a nice deep chestnut brown. Then Marcy is putting the pink back in bangs for me. I haven't had the pink in for awhile because I didn't feel I would handle questions about it well so soon after Lisa's death. But I'm ready again to have it there for breast cancer awareness. I promise to post pics when the grey is gone lol!
