Much has happened here at the furball ranch and I finally have time to introduce the quads. My very beautiful standard girl Oksana gave birth to quads September 11. Three boys and one girl. The sire is my standard male Jesse. This is Oksana's first litter. Birth weights were 36, 37, 39 and 41.
By day two they were fighting. I trimmed two tails and each kit had both front paws colored so I could tell them apart. Started a daily log of weights and had to start rotation right away.
Also had to deal with one kit being injured in the fight. He was bit on the lid of his eye and nose. His lid swelled the eye shut. Thank God his nose was not bad at all. He made it through with the help of an antibiotic and eye drops. For many days he could not see. Due to his struggle for life, he is only half the weight of the others. But he's a happy little guy.
Oksana's cage mate Kate ( who has not had kits ) helped her raise the group. I couldn't have done it without her help as well. All are doing well. They really plow through the supplement of ground oats, pellets and powdered goats milk.
Picture 1 through 3 are playtime pics. Picture 4 shows my two helpers when I was sneaking pictures of the exhausted mom and cage mate. This was after the play time. Number 5 is Kate trying to sleep on the cooler stone with the help of a kit. Hee Hee
