I've been thinking about the poor people in Haiti the last couple of days. So many people died from the earthquake...and so many more are lost and probably going to die because of the mass devastation.

We are so unbelievably lucky to live in countries (US, Canada, UK, etc.) that aren't affected by things like this! Not to mention that we are blessed tremendously to have building codes and infrastructure that won't fall in on itself should we have earthquakes. The earthquakes we do have do not do near the amount of damage as what happened in Haiti...this is something that I don't think we can even comprehend. It's such a poor country...so many poor people already. :(

I was listening to the radio yesterday and people were talking about how they can't call any of their relatives and they don't know who is alive or dead. It's a tragedy...and not even a preventable one.

Natural disasters always make me so sad for the people that are hurt and ruined by them.

i agree with you completely susan. things like this seem so unreal because they happen so far away.

i live on the texas coast and my city is susceptible to hurricanes every year but while the tragedy is great, i dont think it compares to tsunamis that take out whole villages in poorer nations.

since the U.S. has so many troops and we're so into helping other countries, i wonder if its a good idea to help other countries implement their own national guard units and other emergency response teams. at this day and age, no country should be without natural disaster help.

if only...
