My barn sits at 55-60 during the winter, sometimes even 50 and the chins love it. They are active as heck. I just make sure there are no drafts because of the little ones.
My chins live in the basement, so they're at a cooler temperature than the rest of the house, but it's normally around 60 I'd say in the winter.
I would think that if the chins are living inside, there shouldn't be an issue with it getting too cold? Unless you're leaving their window wide open during the winter.
all i know is that i am trying SO hard to hold off on putting on the heat, so my house is between 62 & 65 and they seem to LOVE it! of course i have on a long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, socks, slippers and i am still cold!
ive actually been wondering about this too. i have a roommate and i dont want to force her to be freezing just because im not "chin ready" yet. the weather for galveston is still hot, but then our random cold fronts drop the temp by 20 degrees in a matter of minutes.
im thinking that as soon as the temps stabilize, i'll close off my air vents and we'll keep the heater at 70. even she said herself that she doesnt want it warmer than 75. hopefully this can work, its my first winter.
