One more reason I love my "soon to be mine" Chin:
Two teenage girls came into my store last night and proceeded to go about smacking on every tank to "wake up" the sleeping animals to see them, picking up and knocking items off our shelves and bothering other customers who had animals with them. They were asked a few times if they were interested in buying anything, to which they said no, they were just looking at the animals. Great answer, because I'm then allowed to ask them to refrain from disturbing the animals... we'll make exceptions and wake up, move and handle the pets for serious inquires and buys, but not just because someone comes in to treat our store like the free version of a zoo. And furthermore, not to be destructive or disturbing in the store.
They disappear for a while after this, then come back and have the manager page Pet Care to come open up the Chinchilla cage because they want to potentially buy the Chinchilla. Radar doesn't let anyone pet him, he actively bites/nips strangers and barks at everything that moves near his cage. I tell them this, and they basically tell me I'm a liar and overreacting (though in no where near as nice of terms). As if I wasn't already irritated by them harassing the other animals early, this really irked me. And I think Radar sensed this profound displeasure with their existence, because not only did he bark at them, when they were insistent on petting him, he bit the ever-loving **** out of one of them and drew blood. And to add insult to injury, cuddled up next to me for an ear and chin scratch.
(Even better, on an unrelated Chin note, they wanted to see one of the Ball Pythons, as well. It was currently shedding, and when they shed their eyes cloud over and they can't see well or at all in some cases. This makes them prone to striking out of fear. I tried explaining that, they disregarded it and the snake bit them, too. Eventually, they got kicked out of the store for harassing customers and employees.)
Radar wiping off the blood. No, just playing, he's munching on a treat after putting up with that pair of teens. He's never drawn blood before, I really think he was reading into my internal hostility over their existence, lol.
