He slipped off a ledge yesterday and landed on his tail. Now there is a bump at the base of his tail which is larger than the diameter of the base of the tail itself. It doesn't appear to be bothering him, but when I felt it, there appeared to be a kink in his tail where the bump is, so his tail is like this: ^----. Then the bump is caused by the top part of that kink pushing the fur up.. WHat is this? Will it heal? Is this normal, and I'm just paranoid? PLEASE HELP

If I understand what you're saying correctly, then no, it's not normal to have a kink in the tail. It's possible it's broken or sprained. The only way to know for sure would be to go to the vet and have x-rays done.

If it is broken and not set, and honestly I don't know if you even can set a chinchilla's tail with much efficacy, then it will probably heal as it is with the bump becoming permanent. If it's sprained, it may be swelling of the tissue in the tail and it should go down with time.
