I just had someone call me about a kit that I sold her. She is 4 months old and now has a swollen cheek (between her eye and ear). She was reading in a chin book that sometime mollars comming in can cause that. I told her I have NEVER seen it in 16 years and that it sounds like an infection to me. Has anyone heard of this. I also told her that I doubt VERY much it is teeth problems (unless an infection) because of her age. Maybe when she is 1-2 years old but 4 months old (she does come from good 'lines' ?? Also does anyone know of a good exotic vet in the Lafayette, NJ or southern NY area??

I know this may sound silly but, being she is soo young. Could it be she got an insect bit such a misquito, bee?:hmm: That area is not as dense as the reste of the body.
Just a thought!

I actually thought the same thing. A year or so ago, Trixie got a small swollen reddish area on the tip of her nose. Got her checked, seems it was probably a mosquito bite. Went away on its own in a few days.

I talk to the person again - She said she doubted very much it was a insect bite because the room has 'no insects' and is 'sealed up' with the ac on. She is taking the chin to the vet a 4 this afternnon. Will let everyone know what the vet said. The vet is an exotic vet that her 'dog vet' recommended

Turns out she did have an infection inside her mouth. The vet figures she somehow cut her mouth with a sliver of wood or hay and it got infected. It had to be lanced and she is on tri-meth and metcam and warm conpresses. The chin is a tropper though, she never stopped eating. Even when she came home she went right to her food dish
