I'm going to be switching my chin from pet store food (i know, i know!) to Tradition feed. I've read about how to make the gradual change and am prepared to take all the time they need.

has any switched their chin from one feed to another? how long did it take from the time you fed the first to when they were fully switched over?

also, with Tradition, is there any "side effects" i should watch out for? I've heard mazuri sometimes created soft poos, so i'm wondering if there's any effects Tradition is know to have.

When I had rescues I would cold turkey switch from pet store food to good quality food, never had any issues with the switch as far as digestion goes. Tradition is a good feed, I would feed it if it was easier to get!

There may be some side effects, but they will probably be very minimal if you switch completely right away. I've noticed with some chins that they may overeat a little if they really like the food, but most of the chins on petstore feeds are so used to the treats that it may take them a day or two to actually work their way up to eating more pellets (than they are used to eating.) So, the vast majority of (spoiled on treats in the food) chins will switch over without any issues at all. The worst of it may be a day of slightly soft droppings, but a chin's gut will acclimate to the new food quickly so that isn't a big deal at all.

the pet store variety she's been on does not have "treats" in it, it is all pellets. so she is not used to getting THAT much junk!
