As some f you know, but little guy Cookie hurt his paw. While he is injured I am planning on making him a bunch of ledges to go on his cage for when he is better as a glad your better gift :) My question is, I have a large (looks like 7 feet) thick branch that I want to cut up to make ledges (a bunch!) How should I prepare it? Should I cut it up then wash it or? It's really heavy so I am unsure what I should do. Also the branch is a white birch tree :)

Okay thank you! One of the threads say to make sure that there is no Lichen on it, what's that?

Lichen looks like an algae but from what I understand it's actually made up of both algae and fungus. It appears on woods as a green, sometimes blueish color. A lot of people scrub it off wood when they are preparing it but others stay away from woods with any lichen because some can be toxic and you never know if you got it all off. Personally, I avoid it and look for branches that dont have any!

Thank you! I will check my trees I am using birch! I just need to find the saw -_-
