Spot on nose

I got my hedgie up for play and cuddle time and I noticed he has a spot on his nose right where his nose meets his face fur that wasn't there before. I gave him a bath to see if it was dirt but you know how hard it is to wash a hedgie face. It doesn't really look like it is any lighter and it is just a spot, not a lump or anything. He is four years old and I am worried about every little thing now. Is this something we should worry about do you think? Should he go to the vet?

Gosh, such a hard call... could be anything. Maybe a little spot that itched, he scratched, and now it looks funny? A bug bite? Beginning of an ingrown hair... It's so hard to tell. Feel free to post a pic (if he'll let you take one).

Of course, if it gets worse, looks infected, you notice changes in eating, playing, behavior in general... I'd go with a vet visit. Else, I think I'd probably just watch it for a day or so, see what happens, then plan accordingly. Though I'll add that I haven't seen a spot on my little ones in that location before, so I'll defer to the advice given by anyone who has.

In the off chance that it's something in his mouth causing an irritation that's showing up as a spot on his nose, I might try and see if there's something going on with that. But, in the absence of any other info, my recommendation is to go with your gut. You know your little guy the best of all and I know you'll make a good decision.

He is acting and eating just fine. Its just a dark spot. I took a picture, the flash kinda washed it out a little. I hope you can see ok. I circled the spot.
