Another little update in case anyone is interested.

New diet still going fine, all good there. His nose is the same - it gets better in between but I think it is just a case of him constantly trying to get out of his cage by poking his nose through which is causing it to get sore / reddish. Any ideas how we can stop him doing this?

I have no idea, other than not giving him any attention, toys or treats through the bars so he isn't getting that positive reinforcement. Good luck with that though-- I find it nearly impossible to resist chinnie noses!

Will try not to give him any attention when he's poking the cage , see how that goes - but it is hard to resist

He's very awake and active today (and its only around 6PM, woke up around 4PM usually wakes up a couple of hours later) and his awake time for today has only been poking the cage, nothing else !

If I give him an apple stick to chew on he'll be distracted for maybe a minute, then back to poking the cage again :( Which doesn't help his "sore" nose!

Yes, he's constantly eating which is good!

Got the little guy a friend in the shape of a cuddly rat I saw in Ikea, and he seems to get along very well with her (or it?)
