Snuffling and Hopping...

in a hedgie who is pretty new to myself, my boyfriend, and his new home...

Is this him being playful or nervous? His quills are half-up... I know it means nervousness when he's in his crate and watching one of the big people try to pick him up, but he's burrowed into my lap and on a towel right now.

thats normal for a hedgie in a new home, it could be worse tho. keep working with him and letting him rest on your lap and stomach. soon he'll learn your smell and gain courage then trust that you are a friend.

Along the same lines of the last post, I know this was mentioned in another thread, but putting a shirt that smells like you into their cage for them to sleep on will also get them acquainted with your scent. It takes time and patience with these guys. Good luck with your new hedgie.

Make sure your hands are warm when you pick him up too. Us Edmontonians have horribly cold hands that I'm sure hedgies can't stand.
