I was cropping some pics that I took tonight and freaked when I saw this! I ran down and got Smokey out of his cage to take a closer look. It looks like his toe is smashed and flat and hanging with dried up blood! I checked in the cage and see nothing that he could have gotten hung on! Could Bandit have done this???!!?? He is holding his little foot up and keeps putting it to his mouth but I cant tell what he is doing (biting, licking)? What should I do for him until I can get to the vet tomorrow?
I'm freaking out, but Smokey seems calm. I gave him a rose bud and he is just chillin, eating his rose!

we had a chin that had toes missing is there a big age diffrence as adult chin bite the toes off naughty kits / there babys

Looks like he got his toe bit or pinched in something. Should not be an issue. Feet and toes bleed alot on chins. Just watch it for infection.

I'm guessing the vet will give you two options, to amputate the toe or to simply give him antibiotics to prevent infection...
If its indeed 'crushed' amputation would be the way I would lean for this perticular issue... Poor boy I bet it realy hurts him, I doubt you can realy do any thing unless you have metacam laying around and know what low dosage you can administer.

I myself had some thing similar happen with my bird not too long ago (toe got caught in a door) and it had happened once before, years ago. I weighed him to see if the metacam dosage would be the same and it was. I saline wound washed his toe daily and applied blue kote and administered metacam once daily for about five days too keep him relatively pain free while he recovered.

This however looks fairly bad and my guess is that this can't be self veted if it is indeed 'crushed'
Give us an update once he's back from the vet! Good luck!
Whisker kisses to you and him from my gang!

Took all 3 boys with me ...with losing Charlie, then this, I wanted everyone checked out!
They cleaned up Smokey's foot and the toe came off, it was hanging by a scab and the bone was exposed. They are keeping him over night to sedate him and put a stitch in. He will come home tomorrow with an E-collar and has to be alone in his cage for two weeks while wearing the collar. Bandit and Inca got a clean bill of health!! Now I don't know what to do with Bandit...should I try him with Inca now?

They just called to let me know he was awake and did just fine. They said that he chewed the bone down in the short amount of time he was caged while waiting for the procedure. He will definitely have to wear the collar and hopefully leave it alone!

Picked up my little grumpy baby tonight. He is so pitiful with the collar on! Wasnt eating much so they hand fed him today (his face shows it). Have to go back in 3 days for a check up on his little nubby toe. Brought him home and put him in his own half of the FN and he started eating hay, yay! I measured his pellets so I'll know if he ate much. Bandit can hear Smokey underneath and it is driving him crazy!!

He is eating his hay and pellets (no hands) and drinking today! He is also very good about taking his antibiotic. He's a tough little guy and I love him!

Went back to the vet tonight for check up. His toe is healing nicely and quickly. They took his collar off for good, unless he decides to pick at his foot. Now that he can use his hands again, he is an eating machine!! I'm confident that he will be just fine now! Thanks everyone! Emergency is over and thread can be closed.

Out of curiosity, what does a collar look like and how does it keep him from picking at his feet? Did you by chance take pics?

Is it something like the cone-o-shame that my old dog had to wear after he was neutered to prevent nipping at his stitches?
