Well, since it's Furby I had to ask. During the day when I'm in the room he's always in his house but when I wake up in the morning he's usually, and has only recently been sleeping on the floor. I took him to the vet (unrelated reason) and mentioned it and they didn't seem to think anything was up if he was eating etc. But I decided to ask you guys

I've heard that too, but I can't imagine what would be wrong with him. He always stops eating and gets really grouchy when he's sick...

I notice my chin changes where she sleeps every 2-3 months. Sometimes it'll be in a tube, on a shelf, in her house (which is on the floor) or in her fleece house etc...

I haven't been able to find a correlation between her being sick and changing sleeping places. Even if it was a sign of pain/sickness, you still wouldn't know anything more specific until other symptoms came up.

If you're worried, look him over and keep an eye on him. Make sure he doesn't have any other potential signs of illness and that's all you can reasonably do.

When chins sleep in a strange place, it actually means they sleep somewhere odd a chin normally would not sleep-in a corner of the bottom of the cage exposed for example, not just changing from a hidey house to a fleece tube.

My bad--I misunderstood. I hope Furbs is doing better!!

Well he was in his hidey house this morning. I don't exactly know what to do. He's never seemed healthier than he has been these last few weeks. Pretty much if anything seems off I take him to the vet, but that usually has more to do with his not eating, or bad poops, or irritability... I can and will take him in if you guys recommend it... I'm just not sure where to begin with trying to understand what's wrong with him

I would keep a eye on him, the symptom is too vague for a vet to understand but it warrents a close look by you. I would not do a vet visit yet but I would watch closely for any other symptom.

Anna just wanted to let you know Wesley often sleeps on his cage floor. He's the only chin I have who does this on a regular basis. Whether it was on shavings, a bare metal floor or a fleece floor he slept on it! He has a great hammock and tube and a hidey house, but just loves laying on the floor!

anna, has anything changed at all at your place? i know that the temp is changing a bit so that may influence where furby sleeps. in my opinion, if everything else is normal, and he's not dropping weight, it could just be a behavioral characteristic and he just wants to change a bit.

you know what to look for, and you know how furby acts. im 100% sure that you will make the right decision if anything else changes with him. dont stress too much. ive found that when i watch gizmo like a hawk, i end up driving myself nuts "omg...he lost ANOTHER whiskar!".

keep us updated :)
