Alright, so I've been using Blue Cloud for my chin. I've noticed that Oxbow sells Blue Cloud and Petco sells Blue Cloud(under Planet Petco)... Does this mean that they're all the same kind of dust, just different packaging?

Silly question I know, but I've been wondering forever. XD

I want to add that you're way overpaying for the container, label and overhead. It is considerably less expensive to buy from local breeders or from members online like Snickers. But yes. Exact same lovely dust....though I do recall there was a thread awhile back about people complaining that the containered dust had a chemical smell to it. Not sure what that was about...

I don't think there are any breeders here and I always assumed shipping would be horrid since it's a heavier product. :/

Where are you located? How much dust do you go through? You should consider PMing Snickers on here and she can tell you the rates.

Thanks Ryan I did send her a pm to see where she is located to give her a shipping rate. Great job at the WA Show.

When I first bought dust online from a breeder and compare it with buying from the pet store, buying from the breeder still cost less even with shipping.

How many pounds are you getting from the pet store in 1 of those containers?

Also, another thing people never seem to factor in is gas. It cost you gas money to go to the pet store so shipping is like paying for gas. (With the benefit of not having to leave the house) lol

I did some research on this. Blue Cloud in containers:

Petco: 13oz container for $4 = $5/pound plus tax and gas to get there
Petsmart: 3 pound container for $10.49 = $3.50/pound plus tax and gas

In comparison, based on Snickers' prices last summer (not sure if they are the same....I do think the post office increased costs but not sure if Nan has:

The total cost for a medium priority box (17 pounds) is $25.10 which equals $1.47/pound

The total cost for a large priority box (24 pounds) is $33.65 which equals $1.40/pound

And this doesnt even include the tax and gas money being saved!

Clearly, buying from and supporting sellers on this forum saves you a considerable amount of money!

Strange question but... What is Blue Cloud Dust actually made from?
Everywhere I've seen it I've seen how they've gone on about it being "natural" but natural what?

I was trying to find my link to that! Glad someone found it. It really is a unique vein...and the chinchilla industry would not be the same were it not for that stuff being mined!

Shipping prices varies the closer you are to one's state or in the same state that is selling the items you can go with Regional A or B box. These 2 boxes are the cheapest compared to priority medium and large boxes. I shipped 2 boxes of dust to WA the cost for each box was $10.66 and the box can only weigh 20 lbs ea. A medium box shipping is $12.35 holds about 18 lbs of dust and large box shipping is $17.45 holds 24 lbs.
