I came home today and Hercules looked like he had a dribble of throw up down his front. He seems to be jumping around and fine now. but He's ussually asleep now. do they sometimes get hairballs or something?

Chins are incapable of vomitting. Is it possible he was drooling? If so I'd suspect a teeth/mouth issue in whichcase you should takehim to the vet for Xrays, and a proper look into his mouth (usually takes sedation). How is his eating/drinking/poops? Any pawing at the mouth? Runny eyes?

well, it wasn't clear like drool though. and he had a little piece of hay sticking out. like he had ate it and then coughed it back up.

He's been eating and drinking fine. His poops feel and look normal. and his eyes don't look watery either.

Maybe he choked on it and it came back up? Or he can't properly eat? You'll see with chins withteeth/mouth issues they will have trouble eating properly. I added this to my last post but how is his eating drinking pooping? Is he pawing at the mouth? Does he have wateryeyes?

Eta: nevermind you saw it.

Well if he is acting normal now I'd just say monitor him closely. Make surehe is eating properly and enough. Watch out for lethargy or any more abnormal behavior.

I haven't seem him paw at his mouth. I'll keep an eye out for it. Can teeth problems develop suddenly? He's never had any problems like this before.

Well if there is something stuck in his mouth or aninfected tooth or what have you, you will start to see them drooling and having difficulty eating. Malocclusion is a slower progression but symptoms are similar. Justwatch him, if you see the 'drool' again, take him in.

okay. How should I get him all cleaned up now? Will he just take care of it on his own or should I wipe him off with a paper towel?

Wetwash cloth, dry him very well and dust baths. If he's light colored he may be stained for awhile.
In my opinion it sure sounds like drooling and next time he tries to eat it may happenagain so definately keep monitoring him.

okay, thanks for your help. I'll keep watching him. Hopefully he will be okay.

He seems to be doing fine. Eating and Drinking like normal. and no more drool! Maybe he just choked before? He scared me to death so I'm glad he's doing alright now.
