I am COMPLETELY new to showing, i've never been to one, sure as heck haven't entered a chin in one, nothing. But i'm planning on going to the MCBA michigan show on Saturday and entering one or two of my chins.
Sorry to be a bother, but I have a lot of questions =/

-I'm planning on coming Saturday morning, instead of Friday night. As far as i've read, this is what i've picked up: I'll register my chin, I'll groom her, put her in a show cage, and sit with everyone else until the show is over? Is this correct?
-I have no idea where to get a grooming comb for chinchillas, I have no idea HOW to do it, the only help the internet has given me, is telling me to ask other people for help once I get there. Is it really that easy? I don't want to feel like i'm inconveniencing anyone by taking away time from their chins. I wish I was more connected in the chin world so I could just be like someone's little intern and follow them around all day while I learn the ropes. haha.
-Will I be able to buy a comb there?
-I'm planning on bringing 2 of my chins. I probably won't put both of them in the show. If I only enter one, what do I do with the other chin while one is being shown? It's my understanding that you can't take your chin off the showing table until the show is COMPLETELY over, and I don't think you're allowed to just sit there and watch with another chinchilla sitting on your lap. haha.

I think that's it
I'm so excited that's it's only 2 days away. It's driving me crazy. But now I realize I probably should've asked these questions much much sooner .

I will give you a hand with what you need to do and I also will have combs there for sale. You pretty much have the idea of what will go on and many of the others along with myself will be glad to answer any questions along the way. Also you are right all animals must be either in a show cage or carrier during the show.

Thank you so much =)
How much will you be selling your combs for?

And I pretty much figured that they had to be in a carrier, I just meant, what do I do with the carrier while i'm in the showing room?

If this is only a one time thing I bet someone will let you borrow their combs and help you groom. :))

I've had to bring my other chins along to a show before when I wasn't showing them. I just left them in their carrier along a wall behind the chairs of people watching the show.

Normally they aren't held in huge places, so you should be able to stay near your chin if you want.

And yes, sometimes people will let you borrow their combs, that's what I've done. Really, everyone is nice at shows and willing to help out the newbies.

I don't know if you breed or not, but if you do, going to shows is a great resource. You can ask questions, and see what nice quality chins look like, and what you should be aspiring to with your breeding program.

Well, since it will probably be a year at least since I attend another show, I'll probaly try to make friends and borrow someone else's. I don't really have the opportunity to travel to all the other shows, i'm soo glad I can actually make it to this one, since it's so close to home.
