So I ordered a set of grooming combs from Ryerson and had a few questions about grooming before a show.

I was informed that Chinchillas will "release" fur when stressed out. Will they do this when being combed?

Also what do I use the lint roller and hack saw blade for? Any and all information will be appreciated. Thanks

Chins can slip fur if you grab them too tightly or pull too hard on an area which is uncombed or matted. Small short strokes should be used at first, to seprate all the hairs.

I use a hacksaw blade for chins that are really dense and blowing a lot of fur. You run it over them from tail to head, then I go up the sides toward the back, and then I sweep it all off with the hacksaw lightly across the back (tail to head). It removes all the loose dead fur.

After combing with a rough and fine comb, the lint roller is then used to remove any little hairs that are atill sticking out.

Nice video! That's a pretty feisty one!!! One thing you will notice at a show most every grooms a little differently. We use just combs and lint rollers here...oh and then scissors for the tail.

Keeps the tail from messing the hair and tails tend to get off colored quickly. Trimming off those off colored tips helps brighten the appearance.

What show are you getting him ready for? Don't forget to dust often prior to the show, but stop dusting several days before a show.
